Providing clean drinking water to every household is the responsibility of the government, and the Punjab government led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is fulfilling the promises made to the people by further accelerating the pace of development. In villages Gara and Ghanaru, a 250-meter-deep borewell and a 7-kilometer-long new pipeline have been installed to supply clean water to residents.
This was stated by Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Language and Higher Education, School Education Department, Information and Public Relations Department of Punjab, during the inauguration ceremony of the newly completed 122.77 lakh water supply schemes held today in Gara and Ghanaru in Sri Anandpur Sahib assembly constituency.
Harjot Singh Bains further informed that under District Rupnagar, in the villages of Gara and Ghanaru, which fall under Sri Anandpur Sahib Block, a new water supply scheme has been implemented by the Punjab government Water Supply and Sanitation Department. This scheme, constructed at a cost of 122.77 lakh, has been developed under the JJM/AAP and NABARD 29 programs to ensure the efficient delivery of clean drinking water to the two villages.
Providing Clean Drinking Water to Every Household Is the Government’s Duty- Harjot Bains further shared that under this new scheme, a tubewell has been constructed with a depth of 250 meters. A tank (OHSR) with a capacity of 50,000 liters has also been built, and approximately 7 kilometers of new pipeline has been laid to provide clean drinking water to both villages. Previously, these two villages received their water supply from the Agampur water supply scheme. Now, with the establishment of this new system, both villages are receiving an adequate supply of water.
