PSPCL abolishes 720 more posts of thermal plants

Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) joint secretary Personnel, has issue the orders of abolishing 720 number of posts at GGSSTP, Ropar and GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat plants.
Out of these 720 posts, 446 posts were abolished in Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant (GGSSTP), Ropar and 274 posts from Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant Lehra Mohabbat. Posts ranging from AE to peon were abolished.
As per chief engineer Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant , Er Ravi Wadhwa,” we take this decision after the restructuring committee advised us to abolish these post. The plant before 01.01.2019 has an installed capacity of 1260 MW i.e. six units of 210 MW, however wef 01.01.2018 Units 1 & 2 of GGSSTP, Rupnagar have retired , as such the present installed capacity of GGSSTP, Rupnagar is 840 MW i.e 4 Units of 210 MW .The posts of these two retired units were abolished, along with others.”
Earlier , Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) has issue the orders to abolish 3216 posts in September 2020. Out of these 3216 posts, 1049 posts were abolished in Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant (GGSSTP), Ropar and 2167 posts from Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant (GNDTP) Bathinda. Posts ranging from chief engineer, superintending engineer to beldar, all levels were abolished.
Last year, after receiving directions from the state government to various departments to cut expenses and abolish unnecessary posts, more than 40,000 posts in Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) were selected to be abolished.
After that, Punjab state Power Corporation limited (PSPCL) management had taken the decision to abolish these post in its 83rd board of directors meeting, held at Mohali on August, 20,2020, and the process begins.
As per information, earlier the sanctioned strength of posts in the PSPCL is 75,757. But the present management has drastically reduced the number of posts, on the recommendations of restructuring committee.
