Distribution officers put level best efforts for coming paddy season: Er.Grewal

Distribution officers should put in their level best efforts and focus on result oriented arrangements for reliable and uninterrupted power supply to the consumers in the coming paddy season. This was stated by Er.DPS Grewal director distribution PSPCL while addressing a meeting of officers of Jalandhar and Kapurthala circles of north zone here today.
Er Grewal said that for the coming paddy preparations PSPCL has made elaborate arrangements for paddy preparation & to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers, regular maintenance of the distribution transformers and feeders are being carried out by the distribution officials for reducing outages time.
He said that regular monitoring of these maintenance activities is being done through Whatsapp groups wherein officials from different field offices get to learn from each other and healthy competition motivates them to perform even better.
Customer care services are being strengthened for prompt disposal of complaints.
Er.DPS Grewal said that for the improvement of power supply in the areas of Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr under PSPCL North zone, various system strengthening works like deloading of overloaded feeders & distribution transformers, replacement of worn out conductor etc. are being carried out. He disclosed that 30184 Nos. distribution transformers and 480 Nos. overload 11 kV feeders have been deloaded this year in the whole state.
He said that various transmission works of 66 KV grid substations and 66 KV lines in the region were stalled for several years due to one or the other reason like right of way issues and public disputes. These issues have been resolved through active intervention and as a result a new 66 KV Kartarpur corridor line to deload existing 66 KV Tanda Road line & a new 66 KV grid substations at Paragpur in Jalandhar were commissioned in Dec 2020 & January 2021 respectively. Another such 66 KV grid substation at Focal Point-2, Jalandhar will be commissioned by 15.04.2021 which will be a big relief for consumers of the region.*
He said that PSPCL has been adopted analytical approach for finding out the suspected power theft & unauthorized load cases based on the data mining reports of information technology cell, so that only the culprits are targeted and the honest genuine consumers are not harassed unnecessarily.*
He said that in order to bring more improvement in working and for accurate feedback, PSPCL have formed Whatsapp groups for industrial & for prominent consumers in the state.
He said that recently, capacity of the 1912 call centre at Ludhiana was doubled from 60 to 120 seats in Sept,2020. Meetings were taken with Industry associations in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar and Whatsapp groups have been created for prompt redressal of their grievances and system improvement through their feedback & suggestions.
He appreciated the services and outstanding contribution of distribution staff for the challenges being faced due to Covid pandemic. He also appreciated the efforts of engineers and staff has ensured reliable and continuous supply to the consumers of the Punjab along with regular recovery of defaulting amount & detection of theft.
While sharing the details about that Pilot project which is under progress at PSPCL city division Batala for making it paperless, faceless & contactless wrt. various consumers services like complaint registration, bill delivery and other commercial processes, which would be further rolled out in the whole state.
