PSPCL gazetted officer suspended for demanding bribe from his colleague

In accordance with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government’s policy of zero tolerance against corruption, an official of Punjab state power corporation limited PSPCL posted at Faridkot has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for allegedly blackmailing and demanding bribe from another PSPCL officer.
Revealing this in a press release issued here on Wednesday, the Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the accused official identified as Amit Setia, was posted as Accounts Officer Field, PSPCL, Faridkot. The accused official was blackmailing and demanding the bribe from a AE/Sub Divisional Officer of PSPCL .
The Minister further said an investigation was conducted into the complaint and the video clip sent by the sub-divisional officer with the complaint. During investigation, it came to light that the accused official Amit Setia was blackmailing the SDO and demanding the bribe for keeping him out of the case of an unauthorised use of electricity.
Further, the Minister said that in the preliminary investigation, the Accounts Officer concerned has been suspended for being guilty of the above irregularities and further action will be taken after the complete investigation. He further reiterated that no Government officer/official , at whatever high post ,will be spared if found indulging in any corrupt practices.
