PSPCL is intolerant towards power theft; Jalandhar circle conducted mass raids-CMD

As per instructions of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) CMD A. Venu Prasad , director distribution Er DIPS Grewal, PSPCL and Chief Engineer Jainender Dania/Distribution North Zone Jalandar, mass raids were conducted here today under the supervision of Er. Harjinder Singh Bansal distribution circle PSPCL Jalandhar and imposed a fine of Rs 13.06 lakh to the consumers indulged in theft of electricity.
In these raids found irregularities in the area of Model Town, Cantt, East, West and Phagwara Divisions. During raids 2048 cases were checked out of which 30 no. cases found stealing of power and other ir-regularities found. A penalty of Rs 13.06 lakh was imposed on erring consumers. As per the Electricity Act 2003 FIR being lodged against the persons found stealing of electricity.

Chief Engineer Jainender Dania Distribution North Zone Jalandar appealed to the consumer not to steal electricity and if anyone steals arounds your house report it to mobile no. 96461-16301. The identity of consumer who reported the power theft will be kept confidential. Er Harjinder Singh Bansal Distribution Circle PSPCL Jalandhar requested the prospective consumers to pay their Electricity Bills well in time to avoid disconnection of power supply.
