PSPCL is not going to spare power thief’s; detected uncommon way of theft-CMD

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials on Friday nabbed a consumer for making theft of power in an uncommon way and imposed him a penalty of Rs 3.5 lakh. The officials said that on a tip-off the raid was carried out by PSPCL officials under the guidance of Deputy Chief Engineer Enforcement Patiala Er.Rajinder Singh Sarao in Baliyan village of Sangrur.

The raids to counter the power theft are being carried on the instructions of CMD PSPCL A. Venu Prasad and Chief Engineer Enforcement wing Er. Rajesh Bhardwaj.

The accused was found using Rs 25 horsepower motor illegally by making power theft. The officials said that the accused had directly connected the motor with 11KV power line. The officials said that the accused in order to get the power supply for its motor had also installed a transformer that was kept on the earth and was connected to 11 KV power line.

PSPCL officials said  that the power theft was uncommon and was highly risky to human life.The officials said that proceedings have been initiated to register a case against the accused under sections of Electricity Act 2003 at anti-theft police station .
