PSPCL terminates Assistant Engineer; question raised on India’s prestigious exam “GATE” authenticity

Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) has terminated the services of Er Mandeep Singh, AE/OT, presently working at sub-store (Patran) for submitting fake documents and fails to meet the eligibility criteria of the powercom for the post of Assistant Engineer (Electrical)
Mandeep Singh had joined the Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) under CRA 2019 process.
After his joining, Punjab state Power Corporation limited (PSPCL) authorities had given him a posting and forwarded his documents to the university from which he had done his engineering, for verification, as a routine process.
Manav Bharti University (MBU), Solan, Himachal Pradesh has informed the PSPCL authorities on June 30,2023 that “ the name and registration of the candidate i.e Mandeep Singh does not match with the records provided by the SIT, MBU cases and admission records of the university.”
As per available information, “the degree certificate of Er Mandeep Singh was not verified by the concerned authorities of Manav Bharti University (MBU). The explanation was sought from Er Mandeep Singh, but no proof was submitted by him in his reply dated August 24,2023. The Powercom authorities has also given him an opportunity of personal hearing before Director, finance PSPCL and a chance was given to him to present his case as per his degree can be considered as valid along with supporting documents. The personal hearing was given on September 20,2023 and during the hearing no proof/ document was submitted by him that can prove the authenticity of his degree certificate.”
The chief engineer HRD has issued his termination orders on October 6,2023. As per chief engineer HRD of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL), “the selection of the assistant engineer (SDO level) in PSPCL is done on the basis of numbers obtained in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The powercom call the eligible candidates and later verify their documents. In this case, Mandeep Singh documents are found to fake and the powercom has decided to terminate his services, as per rules.”
