PSPCL to reward villages with no power theft case with feeder separation facility – CMD

Punjab State Power Corporation limited has decided to upgrade the electrical infrastructure in all villages of the state. It includes feeder separation which refers to the power supply to agricultural and non-agricultural consumers separately through dedicated feeders, which regulate power supply to agricultural consumers as and when needed for effective demand side management . The core objective of feeder separation is to provide regulated supply to agricultural consumers and continuous supply to non-agricultural consumers in rural areas.
The preference will be given to those villages having no case of power theft and PSPCL would develop such those villages as role models in terms of extraordinary power facilities. This will be implemented as per the instructions of PSPCL CMD A. Venu Prasad IAS and Director Distribution Er. DPS Grewal, this was disclosed by Er.Jiwan Kansal Chief Engineer distribution West zone here today in a press note.
Er.Jiwan Kansal said that priority will given to such villages where the power consumers do not steal electricity, the power supply would be restored on priority in those villages in case of power outage due to inevitable situation.
He said that in the coming paddy season in such villages uninterrupted power supply will be given . Er. Kansal said that the transformers supplying electricity to the tubewells consumers in the villages which are overloaded would be de-loaded before the coming paddy season on priority basis and also all overloading problems of domestic and non domestic consumers will be eliminated.He also said that if a group in a village area gets less power supply due to some technical reason then the said area of the village would be compensated power in the very next group.
He said that since PSPCL is a commercial organization and it requires financial resources on day to day basis for providing reliable and uninterrupted power to 96 lakhs consumers in the state. He also appealed the consumers to deposit their electricity bills well in time to avoid the disconnection in case of default in making payment of electricity bills.
Er.Kansal also appealed to all its consumers to help PSPCL in controlling the menace of theft of electricity by providing information about theft of power for campaign against theft of electricity in the state.
