Puadhi Kavi Darbar organised in Rupnagar

Department of Languages, Punjab organized a Kavi Darbar dedicated to Puadhi language as part of the series of events of Punjabi Month-2022 at Government College Rupnagar where the poets won the hearts of the audience with their  poetry.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains was the chief guest on the occasion. He thanked all the prominent poets who had participated in the Kavi Darbar.

He said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji chose the land of Puadh for the creation of the Khalsa Panth and it is only because of God’s blessings that I have got the opportunity to represent Sri Anandpur Sahib as a MLA.

He said that he enjoyed Puadhi language in this special Kavi Darbar and such efforts by the Punjab government will continue in the future.

This Kavi Darbar was started by senior journalist and Puadhi language lover and writer Gurpreet Niamian with an address in Puadhi language and he thanked the Punjab government that this is the first time that Puadhi Kavi Darbar has been organized with the aim of preserving the dialects of Punjab. It has to be done so that their original form can be maintained for the coming generations.

After this, Master Satish Vidrohi presented his poem from the stage. Mohani Toor won the hearts of the audience by reciting his poems.

Dr. Balwan Aujla and Harpreet Singh Dharamgarh, representing Puadh from Haryana in this delighted the audience with a poem presenting the desolation of Puadh villages to settle Chandigarh.

Dr. Gurmeet Singh Baidwan ,Lakhvir Daudpur,Satwinder Dhadak, a journalist from Mohali,
Charan Puadhi, Romi Gharame wala artist Sukhbir Singh, Bhupinder Mataur and Prof. Sunita Rani presented also recited poetry.

Government College Rupnagar principal Jatinder Gill said that it is a matter of pride for us that this initiative has been taken by the Punjab Government and this platform has been decorated at the Government College to connect the students with their language.

On this occasion, President of Punjabi Sahitya Akademi Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, Joint Director Language Department Veerpal  Kaur, Assistant Director Language Department Jaspreet Kaur, SSP Rupnagar Vivek S Soni, SDM Rupnagar Harbans Singh, DSP Tarlochan Singh, District Language Officer Darshan Kaur, District Language Officer Mohali Davinder Singh Boha, Prof. Nirmal Singh Brar, Dr. Jitender Kumar were also present on the occasion.
