Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) has requested the Punjab government to instruct the affiliating Universities/ Boards not to charge Registration fees, Examination fees or other Student Related Funds (SRF) from over 3 lakh SC students of Punjab for the session 2017-18.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA has seek the Punjab Government help to not to charge fees from SC Students of Punjab and appraised the efforts of social welfare minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot for his regular follow up with the Central Ministers for pending amount of 1,269 Crore meant under various scholarship schemes of students.
Kataria further urged Punjab Govt to instruct the Govt Universities including Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda; I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Jalandhar; Punjabi University, Patiala & PSBTEIT Board not to pressurize Colleges to pay Registration fees, Examination fees or other Student Related Funds (SRF) for the SC/OBC students of Punjab.
Gurfateh Singh, Vice President, PUCA said that on the one hand more than 3 lakh students haven’t been reimbursed Post Matric Scholarship on the other hand PTU- Bathinda & Jalandhar & PSBTEIT are charging registration/examination fees for such students from the colleges. “How can a college pay to the University/Board from its own pocket when neither the student nor the Punjab Government has paid fees to the College?”
