Singla said that e-commerce portals are lucrative platforms for Indian sellers to engage with global audiences. They have huge sales potential and entail minimal marketing cost. He suggested that in order to promote the sales of local handicrafts, they should also be showcased on such platforms. Singla said that he would flag the issue to the Chief Minister Punjab that the Punjab Pulkari and Handicrafts be marketed on e-commerce portals  in order to cater to NRI consumers worldwide . This would promote exports and help the small-scale industry in Punjab to grow, said he.

Sharing the dice at the media interaction organised jointly by the Ludhiana-based Trident Group and Amazon at JW Marriot, Chandigarh after the launch of its products on Amazon, Singla felicitated the India’s leading manufacturer in home textiles on its online debut globally through Amazon and hoped that it would inspire more and more Punjabi Manufacturers to foray into similar venture. He said that it is indeed heartening to know that over a thousand manufacturers from Punjab are marketing their products on Amazon.

With this launch, we hope to expand our reach digitally and make our products, the preferred choice in home textiles.”

Gopal Pillai, Vice President, Seller Services, Amazon India, said, “Through the Amazon Global Selling Program, Indian exporters can not only showcase their product range on our 12 international marketplaces, but also embark on a successful and profitable e-commerce journey that adds global scale to their business and expands market reach. We want to grow the program further to bring more and more Indian brands and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on board by providing them global customer access.
