Punjab Bank Employees’ Federation celebrated 51st anniversary of bank Nationalization day

51st Anniversary of Bank Nationalization on the 19th July, 2020 was observed with tree plantation derive by the Punjab Bank Employees’ Federation Patiala Unit. On this occasion saplings of trees were planted at Veer Haqikat Rai School, Haqikat Rai Park, SST Nagar today. S K Gautam, General Secretary, Punjab Bank Employees’ Federation and Joint Secretary, AIBEA, inaugurated the derive. Sukhbir Singh, President and Yadvinder Gupta, Secretary, Local Federation, Sanjiv Prashar, Treasurer PBEF, along with leaders of the Federation Sanmit Singh, Balvir Sharma, S S Gill, Varinder Sharma, Divya Pal, Naresh Sharma, Arshpreet Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Charanjit Singh, Simarjit Singh, Winner Gupta and Graphic Sharma were present.
Com S K Gautam, told on this occasion that, It was on this day, on the 19th July in the year 1969, when 14 major private Banks were nationalized by the Government of India, from where these Banks started chartering a new path with social orientation. They need to be strengthened, they need to be expanded and they should play a much greater role in shaping up a vibrant economy. But unfortunately, instead of strengthening our public sector banks and their social orientation, attempts are afoot to reverse the clock. He further told that from AIBEA we are releasing the list of Bank Loan Defaulters. He further elaborated the demands, Strengthen public sector banks, Provide adequate capital to all the Banks, Stop attempts of privatisation, Take stringent measures to recover corporate bad loans, Make willful default of bank loan a criminal offence, Publish all the names of loan defaulters, stop Bank defaulters from holding public office and to contest elections, Strengthen recovery laws, Increase interest rate on Deposits, Reduce service charges to common people to access banking service, Provide adequate staff in Branches to improve customer service, Merge all RRBs with sponsor Banks.
Yadvinder Gupta told that AIBEA played a leading role in championing the cause and demand for nationalization of private Banks. Nearly two decades of persuasion and struggles of AIBEA to achieve this demand are a glittering part of the shining history of our organization.
Sanjiv Prasher told, Today when our country and our economy are at the crossroads, our public sector Banks have a very significant role to play.
On this occasion Com.Sukhbir Singh, President thanked The Veer Haqiqat Rai Sanatan Dharam Sabha Vice President G.C. Rattan, Dr.Surinder Modgil, Secy. Er. Deepak Sethi EC Member. Advocate Deepak Sood President of SST Nagar Welfare Society along with Virk, Ramesh Arya also planted the trees on this occasion.
