Punjab Cabinet Approves World-Class University in the Name of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib at Sri Anandpur Sahib- Bains

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that the Punjab Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has approved the establishment of a world-class university at Anandpur Sahib in the name of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting and is being described as a historic step toward promoting higher education while honoring the spiritual legacy of Punjab. The proposed university will be developed on the sacred land of Sri Anandpur Sahib, known globally as the birthplace of the Khalsa. The institution aims to become a leading centre of excellence for education, research and innovation, benefiting students not only from Punjab but also from across the country and abroad.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Harjot Singh Bains extended special thanks to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party leadership and the Government of Punjab for approving such a significant project for his constituency and the region. He said the decision reflects the strong commitment of the Punjab Government to strengthen the education sector and empower the youth with modern opportunities. Bains stated that this university will be a historic gift for the people of Sri Anandpur Sahib and nearby areas, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration of the region. He added that the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has consistently prioritized education and development.

The Minister further said that the establishment of this university will create new opportunities for higher education, skill development and research for the youth of Punjab. It will also boost the economic and cultural development of Sri Anandpur Sahib and surrounding areas while giving the sacred city a stronger identity on the global academic map. Harjot Singh Bains expressed confidence that the university named after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib will inspire generations with the values of knowledge, sacrifice and service, while transforming the region into an important hub of world-class education.
