Punjab Genco gets new Chairman

Dhanjeet Singh Virk took over as the Chairman of Punjab Genco Limited here today in the presence of New and Renewable Energy Minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka.

Punjab Genco Limited is 100% Subsidiary Company of Punjab Energy Development Agency. During the joining ceremony Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, Managing Director, M.P Singh, Director and other Senior Officers of Punjab Genco Ltd. were also present.

Punjab Genco gets new Chairman

Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, M.D / CEO PEDA briefed Dr. Verka about the RE Projects / activities being under taken by PEDA / PGL. Chief Minister desired to further explore the potential in this green energy sector for decreasing the carbon footprint and increasing the use of Renewable Energy to meet the energy requirements for the state of Punjab and also to make it pollution free. MD, PGL ensured to push forward this sector and to explore the potential in more Renewable Energy projects in the state of Punjab under the able guidance Dr. Verka.

Earlier Congress-led Punjab Government has embroiled in controversy with the appointment of Balwinder Singh Kotlabama — the brother of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) office-bearer — as the chairman of Punjab Genco Limited, which comes under the Department of New and Renewable Source of Energy.

Balwinder Singh is considered close to state Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, is the kin of the US-based ‘banned’ pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice’s member Avtar Singh Pannu. Avtar Singh, the coordinator of the SFJ in the United States (US), is said to be number two in the pro-Kahlistani organisation after its chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. He is also on the radar of Indian agencies for his pro-Khalistan activities.
