Punjab gets representation in BBMB board; member power appointed by power ministry

Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) gets a member power after a gap of months period.
Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is dedicated to the service of nation and is engaged in regulation of the supply of Water & Power from Bhakra Nangal and Beas Projects to the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pardesh, Delhi and Chandigarh.
Appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the current duty charge of member Power BBMB to Er Amarjit Singh Juneja , chief engineer, BBMB for the period of six months. Juneja was sent to BBMB by PSPCL in November 2022 and he assumed charge of chief engineer at BBMB on December 2,2022
As per available information, SS Dadhwal was also given the CDC charge of member power . Before that Harminder Singh Chugh was the Member (Power) Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) who was retired on 26-09-2022 after completing his tenure of three and a half years in BBMB.
Punjab gets representation in BBMB board after nine months; member power appointed by power ministry whereas at present Sanjeev Dutt Sharma is member irrigation from Haryana’s quota.
The supreme body of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is headed by a Whole Time Chairman and two Whole Time Members i.e. Member (Irrigation) and Member (Power) who head the Irrigation and Power Wings of BBMB respectively. The Financial Adviser & CAO heads the Finance & Accounts Wing of BBMB. Punjab and Haryana are the biggest stakeholders of BBMB with maximum share in irrigation and power benefits. As per long-standing convention for the last 55 years, Member (Power) was always drawn from Punjab, while Member(Irrigation) from Haryana and Chairman appointed from outside of partner states.
About Er. Amarjit Singh Juneja
Er. Amarjit Singh Juneja has joined as Assistant Engineer on 02.11.1989 promoted as Sr. Executive Engineer on 20.02.2006 and promoted as Superintending Engineer in PSPCL on 26.12.2017. He remained in Guru Govind Singh Super Thermal Plant, (GGSSTP) Rupnagar for 32 years (from 02.11.1989 to 09.12.2021). During this period, he had worked in Operation, Maintenance of Equipment under Mechanical Aux Division, Maintenance of control & Instrument equipment, Maintenance of ATRS System, Operation & maintenance of Pneumatic System Operation and maintenance of various measuring instrument and related works with Fuel Management System, Efficiency of Plant & Training Cell. He joined as Chief Engineer/HRD, PSPCL Patiala on 10.12.2021 and was assigned with all HR related work including transfer/promotion, enquiries, recruitment of all categories and training of technical/non-technical officers.
