Punjab Government Gears Up for 350th Shahidi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji — Harjot Singh Bains

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains today chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, to review preparations for the upcoming 350th Shahidi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, to be commemorated at Sri Anandpur Sahib next month.

During the meeting, the Minister directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of every basic facility for the lakhs of devotees and pilgrims expected to attend the religious samagam. He emphasized that all roads leading to Sri Anandpur Sahib must be repaired and fully functional by mid-November, ensuring smooth and safe travel for visitors.

Bains instructed officials to ensure that street lights remain operational, proper sanitation and drinking water arrangements are made, and sufficient public toilets are installed across key routes and congregation points. The Minister also emphasized setting up designated parking areas with proper signage, lighting, and medical facilities for the convenience of the devotees.

He further directed that LED screens be installed at various prominent locations to showcase the glorious history and significance of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life and the sacred sites of the region, so that devotees arriving from across India and abroad can learn about the spiritual heritage of Punjab.

Highlighting the need for public awareness and cultural engagement, Bains said that Light and Sound Shows depicting the life and teachings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be organized in every district, with a special show planned in Sri Anandpur Sahib.

The Minister urged all departments—including PWD, Local Government, Tourism, Police, Health, and Power—to work in close coordination and complete all arrangements well in advance. He also appealed to officers to maintain cleanliness, discipline, and devotee-friendly management throughout the celebrations.

Concluding the meeting, Harjot Singh Bains reiterated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to ensuring a memorable, safe, and spiritually enriching experience for all devotees participating in the 350th Shahidi Samagam of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Prominent officers present in the meeting included ADC Pooja Sayal, SDM Jaspreet Singh, RTA Gurvinder Singh Johal, BBMB Chief Engineer N.P. Singh, XEN Harjot Walia, XEN Harjit Singh, XEN S.S. Bhullar, along with officials from various departments concerned with the arrangements.
