Punjab government issues orders on opening of bars

The Punjab Government today allowed to open more activities in areas outside the containment zones which includes opening of bars in hotels, shopping malls, and multiplexes.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson said that the Punjab Government has decided to allow opening of bars in hotels, shopping malls, and multiplexes located in areas outside containment zones in Punjab. He added that managements of such commercial establishments must ensure meticulous compliance of the SOPs issued by the health department from time to time.
Punjab government orders read “In consonance with guidelines issued under MHA Order dated 30th May 2020, vide letter No. SS/ACSH/2020/497 dated 23rd June 2020 (F/A), hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services and shopping malls etc. were, inter-alia, allowed to be opened w.e.f. 08.06.2020 in areas outside Containment Zones in Punjab with a rider that while liquor can be served in the restaurants and rooms of hotels as per license of Excise Department but considering the Covid-19 situation in the States, the Bars were directed to remain closed.In compliance with MHA Order dated 30th September 2020, vide letters No.PA/ACSH/2020/09 dated 12th October 2020 (FIB), and No.PA/ACSH/2020/23 dated 31st October 2020 (F/C), more activities have been reopened in areas outside Containment Zones.As may be seen from above that although for the last two months, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services and shopping malls etc. in the State are open with permission to liquor being served in restaurants and rooms of hotels but the Bars in Hotels, Shopping Malls and multiplexes etc. have yet not been allowed to open. Almost all the economic and commercial activities having since been allowed to recommence in the State, it is proposed that Bars in Hotels, Shopping Malls and multiplexes etc. located in areas outside Containment Zones may also be allowed to open.
