Punjab govt extended affixation of High Security Registration Plates-Razia Sultana

The Punjab Government has extended the time limit for all the vehicle owners of the state to get the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) affixed on their vehicles till June 30, 2020. This will be the final opportunity for all the vehicle owners and date will not be extended after this. It was disclosed by Razia Sultana, Transport Minister in a press communiqué released here today.
The Transport Minister said that it is mandatory for all vehicles in India to be affixed with High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). She said that in the light of the orders of Supreme Court of India and notifications by Government of India and Punjab in this regard, the Punjab Government has given the this final opportunity for the vehicle owners who have not got High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) affixed on their vehicles to do so by June 30, 2020.
Razia Sultana said that in addition to existing 22 fitment centers at district headquarters, 45 additional fitment centers have been established at Sub Divisional Level. She said that for convenience of the public and keeping in view social distancing norms for prevention of COVID19, vehicle owners will not be required to go to fitment centers and wait for their turn. An online system of pre-booking an appointment as per one’s convenience and payment of the fees has been activated on the website www.Punjabhsrp.in in addition to a mobile application HSRP PUNJAB.
The Minister also clarified that the HSRP of the vehicles manufactured from April, 2019 onwards are to be affixed from the respective agencies from where the vehicles have been purchased.
The Minister further said that in order to facilitate the public further and to prevent exploitation, the facility Fitment of HSRP at Home has also been provided. This facility is optional whereby vehicle owners can avail the facility by paying a facilitation charge of Rupees 100/- for 2 and 3 wheeler and Rs.150/- for four wheelers and above.

Divulging more about HSRP, Transport Minister said that they are hot-stamped with a chromium-based hologram of the Ashok Chakra in Blue on the top-left corner. At the bottom-left corner, a 10-digit permanent identification number (PIN) is etched with laser. In the middle of the chakra hologram and the laser code, ‘IND’ is inscribed in Blue. Once the HSRP is affixed to your vehicle, the PIN will be electronically linked to your vehicle through VAHAN application in addition to the registration number. The benefit of HSRP is that it helps track lost or stolen vehicles.
