Due to rise in covid 19 cases, Punjab govt has imposed additional restrictions in all the cities of Punjab during unlock 3.0
The new restrictions regarding Night curfew (9:00 pm to 5:00 am) are that Movement of individuals for all the non-essential activities shall remain prohibited between 9.00 pm to 5.00 am within municipal limits the city. However, essential activities including operation of multiple shifts, movement of persons and goods on National and State Highways and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and aeroplanes will be permitted. Similarly, all industries running into 2-3 shifts will also remain open.
Further the new Restrictions on timings state that Restaurants, Hotels and other Hospitality Units to remain open till 8:30 pm, Shops and shopping Malls till 8:00 pm , Restaurants/Hotels situated within shopping malls till 8:30 pm , Liquor vends till 8:30 pm.
The orders explicitly state Penal provisions whereby any violation of these guidelines and lockdown measures shall be punishable under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides legal action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code(IPC).
It says that the Health & Family Welfare Department, Punjab has issued advisories on different subjects. All concerned shall ensure compliance of these advisories. Any violations shall invite criminal proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
