Punjab govt to dissolve gram panchayats; going to appoint administrators

Punjab govt is going to dissolve all the gram panchayats in the state. The rural development has asked all the district development and panchayat officers (DDPOs) to make a data of persons, officials who are going to be appointed as administrators of all these gram panchayats.
With the end of term of gram panchayats the department has asked the DDPOs to identify from the AEs,JEs, VDOs, SCPOs to be appointed as administrators as the term of present gram panchayats are going to end this month.
Earlier in August 2023, Punjab government had dissolved all the Panchayat Samitis, Zila Parishads and Gram Panchayats with immediate effect in the state. The elections for Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads was announced to be on November 25 while the elections for Gram Panchayats on on December 31 last year.
But the same was challenged in the high court and later the ruling govt takes U turn and withdraw its order of quashing the gram panchayats before the end of its term
