Punjab mining department allows farmers to remove sand, earth from their fields; issues SOP

Punjab government has allowed the farmers to remove sand, earth accumulated in their agricultural fields due to recent floods. The mining department has also issued standard operating procedures (SOP) in the same context.
“The famers are allowed to remove the sand from the fields till October 5,2023. The government has given them a onetime facility to farmers to dispose off, sell the sand that has accumulated in their agricultural fields due to recent floods, at their own level. The department or government is not encouraging the mining in their fields except the removal of sand” said Hardip Singh Mehndiratta, chief engineer Punjab mining department.
