Punjab Starts Boating at Sirhind Canal to establish Sri Chamkaur Sahib as a tourist destination

Punjab government has now started boating permanently to establish Sri Chamkaur Sahib as a tourist destination, which was inaugurated on Thursday by MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain.

On this occasion, Dr. Charanjit Singh said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is taking concrete decisions to establish Rupnagar district as a water and adventure tourism destination and to make the places of importance in Sikh history more beautiful. It is under the series of development works that boating has been started from opposite of Dastan-e-Shahadat.

He said that this boating will now be continued for the next 7 years. The view and boating rich in natural scenery will definitely be successful in creating a memorable moment for tourists coming from far and wide.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said that in order to promote water tourism, the district administration has started boating on the scenic Sirhind Canal, especially for the pilgrims and tourists visiting Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sri Chamkaur Sahib and Dastan-e-Shahadat.

Deputy Commissioner further said that 2 motor boats including 10 seater boats, 12 seater boat, jet-ski and a separate boat for rescue are available. Along with this, complete safety arrangements have been made, including life jackets, paddle boats.

He said that during this, special arrangements have also been made for the safety of the people. A safety motor boat has also been arranged to prevent any kind of mishap.
