Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission to redress consumer’s grievances on priority

In a bid to ensure speedy redressal of consumers’ grievances far more efficaciously, the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission has set up a ‘Consumer Advocacy Cell’ to publicize ‘consumers’ electricity resolution mechanism besides launching a vigorous awareness campaign in this regard across the state.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson said that the Cell has been mandated to facilitate the redressal of consumers’ grievances by giving them information on the avenues available for the same, generate awareness amongst consumers’ about their rights and duties, information dissemination to consumers besides bringing out a news letter for the benefit of consumers.
The Spokesperson further pointed out that the ‘The Consumer Advocacy Cell’ would hold periodic meetings with Residents Welfare Associations representing domestic consumers, Associations of Medium and Small Scale Industries, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) to generate awareness regarding the ‘Complaints Redressal Mechanism’. Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has been constituted by the Government of Punjab under section 17 of the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act,1998 vide its Notification dated 31.3.1999 to discharge the duties and perform the functions specified under Section 22 of the Act.
