Punjab State Open University celebrates 75th Independence Day

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University celebrates 75th Independence Day by organising a webinar. The Topic of the Webinar was “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Sukhdev Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Religious Studies of the University introduced the theme of the webinar.

Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, registrar of the University welcomed the Chief Guest, Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Open University, Patiala, Dr. Sulakshana, Associate Professor of the University and all the faculty members of the University. Dr. Sulakshana was the Keynote speaker of the event.

Dr. Sandhu said that this webinar on Independence Day is dedicated to those who sacrifice their lives for our freedom. He also said that this webinar was organised under the able guidance of worthy Vice Chancellor of the University, who always encourages the staff to engage in such fruitful events.

Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University and chief guest of the event also shared his views. He said that we should bow down to the unsung martyrs who gave up their lives for the sake of freedom of our country. Their lives and unmatchable patriotism should be the inspiration for our youth and the right tribute to them is to work tirelessly to create a nation of their dreams. He congratulates the staff members for organising such webinars which provides valuable information to the students.

Dr. Sulakshana, the keynote speaker said that nothing is more precious than independence and liberty. Liberty cannot be bought and thus is highly precious and this day deserves to be celebrated with full enthusiasm and gusto as thousands sacrificed their lives to attain the freedom we are enjoying as a free nation now.

Dr. G.S. Batra, Dean Academic Affairs of the University congratulated everyone on the eve of 75th Independence Day. He said that independent India has carved a niche for itself in the fields of art, literature, science, technology, business, sports etc. It is a matter of pride for one today to be an Indian.

At the end of the webinar, Dr. Amitoj Singh, Associate Dean of the University presented the vote of thanks.  He thanked the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. G.S. Batra, Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, Dr. Sulakshana and the faculty members for joining this webinar.
