In a significant meeting held in Delhi, transporters from Punjab, particularly from Ropar district, met with Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh under the leadership of BJP Ropar District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura. The transporters, who operate their businesses in Delhi but have roots in Punjab especially District Ropar, raised various pressing issues affecting their livelihoods.

The meeting focused on resolving policy-related problems that have severely impacted transporters due to the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s mismanagement. Many transporters from Ropar who work in Delhi have been struggling with administrative hurdles, which have made it increasingly difficult for them to sustain their businesses.

They urged the government to reinstate commercial Innova vehicle registrations, implement a one-time MCD entry toll instead of a daily charge, remove the mandatory panic button in vehicles, and eliminate the speed governor requirement. They also highlighted the need for proper toilet facilities at taxi stands and demanded the removal of Grade-4 restrictions on commercial passenger vehicles, which have put thousands of livelihoods at risk.

He emphasized that with the BJP’s leadership at both the central and state levels, transporters are now hopeful for better policies and solutions.

The transporters expressed their gratitude to Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh and Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, hopeful that their long-standing issues would soon be resolved. Several prominent transporters, including Jaswinder Singh Sidhu, Onkar Singh Raja, Ram Singh, Harinder Singh Bhola, Charanjit Singh, and many others, were present during the meeting.
