Punjabi scholar is the new chancellor of Central university of Punjab, Bathinda

The ministry of education has appointed Prof. (Dr.) Jagbir Singh Former Head, Department of Punjabi, University of Delhi, Life Fellow, Punjabi University, Patiala, Advisor, Center on Studies in Guru Granth Sahib,GND University, Amritsar,Adjunct Professor, Department of Religious and Civilizational Studies, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fategarh Sahib, Punjab, Member, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla as the new chancellor of Central university of Punjab, Bathinda. He is going to replace Sardara Singh Johl, an Indian agriculture economist, writer as chancellor of the university.
He will take the baton from Sardara Singh Johl on February 22,2021.
Dr Jagbir Singh did his M.A.(Punjabi) from University of Delhi in 1966 and Ph.D from University of Delhi, in the year 1970. He has around 50 years of teaching experience. His area of specialization is Medieval Punjabi Literature, Folklore and Literary Criticism (Gurbani, Sufi Poetry and Kissa Poetry).
He has many awards / projects in his kitty. He remained associated with various academic projects and publications. He had published 16 books and translated number of books.
He has a vast experience in delivering the special lecture and had delivered about 100 Special Lectures at Refresher Courses Organized by Staff Colleges of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; Panjab University, Chandigarh; Kurukashetra University, Kurukashetra; Punjabi University, Patiala; Dharvad University, Dharvad; Goa University, Goa. Etc
Punjabi scholar is the new chancellor of Central university of Punjab, Bathinda . He had also presented his papers in more than 100 National and International Seminars/Conferences organised by various universities and institutions and attended national and international conferences.
