Punjabi University and Sabudh Foundation in collaboration released Punjabi AI toolset

Punjabi University Patiala has taken another progressive step towards fulfilling the objective of its establishment for the development of Punjabi Language, Culture and Literature. Punjabi University Patiala under the ambit of MoU with Sabudh Foundation has implemented AI based toolkit for Punjabi Language. It has been implemented in the form of python Library. The implementation of the python library, lead by Ishpreet Kaur and Gurjot Singh of Sabudh Foundation had research contributions from Prof Goyal and Department of Computer Science PhD scholars Kamal Goyal, Ajit Kumar, Kapil Goel, Mukhtiar Singh, Nitika Bansal, Umarinder and Jitesh Pubreja.
Prof. Vishal Goyal said that “as 18 years of his career in NLP research specifically for Punjabi Language, the researchers have to face problem in getting the source code for tools and resources already developed so that research where it has been stopped can be further enhanced rather than starting from scratch. This small step from Punjabi University in collaboration with Sabudh Foundation will benefit a lot to NLP research community”. He added that “similarly Plagiarism detection tool for Indian Languages already developed us will now be pursued by IT vertical of BlueAves E-health Ltd. for converting into a product as this has been done.”
Punjabi University and Sabudh Foundation in collaboration released Punjabi AI toolset. Dr. Sarabjot Singh Anand, Sabudh Foundation said “The launch of this library and its associated website in the near future is an example of what can be achieved when Industry and Academia collaborate. This is only the start. We hope to improve on these tools in the near future and bring other innovations through this collaboration”.
Sabudh foundation has also collaborated with Punjabi University in reskilling the youth through the Punjabi University’s Centre for Emerging and Innovative Technology in Mohali.
