Punjabi university faculty of Business Studies approved 27 cases for award of Ph.D degree

Faculty of Business Studies, Punjabi University Patiala has approved twenty seven cases for award of Ph.D degree recently. Dr. Ritu Lehal, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, told that all the three major departments under this faculty have ensured quality research work which was disseminated through publications in Standardized journals with high impact factor.

The research work by Major General Rajesh Chopra and Brigadier Satish Kumar on topics “Role of Perceived Leadership Style and Personality Traits of Combatants (PBOR) on their Stress Level and Coping Mechanism: An Empirical Study of Indian Army” and impact of Personality and Leadership Style on Managerial Performance: An Empirical Study of Defense Veterans” respectively have identified the Stress Management Techniques and training to reduce stress at all levels of the Army. The personality traits and leadership styles which have more impact on Managerial Performance of defense veterans who join civil jobs after retirement, have been analysed. The Research titled “Sustainability: Enhancing Competitive Advantage of Tourism Business in Ethiopia by Endalew Tegenge, a foreign student from Ethiopia, found the role of sustainability in promoting tourism while controlling financial leakages in a country which has UNESCO heritage sites as it’s prime attraction.The policy implications of the study put emphasis on triple bottom line.

A research by Mulugeta Kebede another Foreign student on “Total Quality Management Practices, Corporate Culture and Organizational Performance in Ethiopian Manufacturing Organizations” observed that TQM practices (used in holistic fashion) had a direct, positive and significant effect on both corporate culture and another vital area of research covered the financial aspect of corporate sector units. It would help the financial institutions and lenders to understand the financial capability of the automobile companies in India. So, an investigation of the selected financial variables and their relationship with each other is expected to help the corporate managers to take crucial decisions for their companies. The industry associations, government, investors and other stakeholders would also be equally benefited.

Another Researcher Focused on “Predicting Financial Distress, Credit Ratings and Stock Returns: An assessment of Altman’s Model in Indian Corporate Sector”. The findings of his research work will be of immense use to the Indian banking sector for the better assessment of Indian corporate’ financial position at the time of approving loans and afterwards. It will also be of great use to investors for predicting the future credit rating changes and the stock returns.

She further said that It is expected that implications of the research conducted by Faculty of Business Studies will contribute immensely to the academicians’ and intelligentsia. This will also open new vistas for further research.
