Punjabi University, Patiala gets nod for Four Year B. A. B. Ed. Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP)

Punjabi University, Patiala is pleased to announce the launch of Four-year B. A. B. Ed. Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) from the session 2024-2025. Department of Education & Community Services, Punjabi University Patiala has received approval from National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi to run four-year dual-major holistic undergraduate degree offering BA-BEd (Secondary stage) with an intake of 50 students.
ITEP is the flagship program of National Council for Technical Education (NCTE) under National Education Policy, 2020. The programme is being offered in pilot mode initially in reputed central/state government universities/institutions of the country.
Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Arvind expressed his satisfaction and happiness at the launch of this course in the university. He lauded the efforts of Department of Education & Community Service for taking this initiative. It may be mentioned here that Punjabi University, Patiala is already running five-year integrated programmes (FYIP) under various disciplines successfully.
Prof. Pushpinder Kaur, Dean, Faculty of Education and Information Science congratulated the department for getting this course which will bring about the revitalization of the teacher education.
Dr. Jagpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Education & Community service said that this integrated course will benefit students since they will save one year by finishing the course in four years rather than the customary five years required by the present B Ed plan.
Admission to this course will be done through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in May, 2024. The details regarding admission to this course will be available on Punjabi University, Patiala website.
