Punjabi University signed MOU with University of British Columbia
Patiala-The Canada visit of Punjabi University’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B.S. Ghuman has yielded another success by way of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Punjabi University and world’s one of the most prestigious universities, the University of British Columbia(UBC). The MoU mentions that both the universities will collaborate “to strengthen the relationship and encourage cooperation between the two institutions”.
Further, the institutions will explore areas of potential collaboration with respect to the activities, coordinated by the UBC Centre for India and South Asia Research (CISAR) with focus on “access to Punjabi and other online courses; exchange of visiting students, scholars, faculty and post-doctoral fellows; exchange programmes, conferences, exhibitions and workshops; curricular development; exchange of scholarly information, including publications and other materials of common interest; and review of other possible areas of cooperation in a variety of research and academic projects.” The MoU was signed by Dr. Ghuman and Prof. Gillian Creese, on behalf of PUP and UBC, respectively.
Giving his input on the issue, Dr Ghuman said that the collaboration with UBC will be “provide ample opportunities to the faculty, scholars and students to cash in on the best practices in teaching and research of a world class University. In reciprocation Punjabi University, inter alia, will extend quite a useful platform to the students and faculty of UBC in learning Punjabi and enhance their knowledge about the hoary culture of Punjab and the high religious and spiritual values that were the trademark of our rich heritage.” Both the universities, he added, would “bid for research in cutting edge areas and undertake collaborative research projects about the Punjabi Diaspora.”
