Punjabi University suspends another senior faculty member after Dr Pushpinder Singh Gill’s suspension

Punjabi university authorities today suspended Dr Paramvir Singh, Prof. Sports Science department with immediate effect and a charge sheet has been issued to him.
During his suspension period his headquarter will be at Punjabi University Gurukashi campus, Talwandi Sabo and his controlling officer will be Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal, Director, Punjabi University Gurukashi campus, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda.
As per available information, the university has charged him for misusing the official vehicle that of the NSS department during his tenure as program coordinator of NSS department. The car number PB 11 AD 5305 was used significantly without due permission i.e. 37,073 Km in 823 days in a particular period of his tenure. The purpose behind the usage is not clearly mentionsd in the logbook.
Moreover, as per the office record the said Car was used under his signature when he was officially on leave on dated 24-01-2012, 16-04-2012,06 to 07-07-2012, 12-09-2012, 6-10-2013, 07 to 09-06-2014 ,25 to 27-02-2015.
Also, the purchase of bicycle and solar lights have been done in the NSS department under his signature. As present, these items are missing in the department.
Also the adequacy and authenticity of the documents were not verified by him while issuing the ‘C’ certificate to Muhammad Shafiq Thind.
The university also pointed out that , “ as per NSS Manual (Revised) 2006: The programme coordinator will be appointed on deputation/ short term contract for the period of 3 years initially. It may be extended for another year subject to the satisfactory performance. As per record, he failed to inform the competent authority regarding this condition, during his term as Programme Coordinator from 19-11-2007 to 30-09-2021.

Dr Paramvir Singh has been asked to submit his reply against the charges leveled against him within 15 days . He has also been informed that an inquiry will be held only in respect of those articles of charges as are not admitted. He, therefore been asked to admit or deny each article of the charge.
