Punjabi university VC hoisted national flag; highlighted university achievements on Independence Day

Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala Prof. B.S. Ghuman, hoisted the national flag at Punjabi University Campus on the 74th Independence Day. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by a specially organised online function where Prof Ghuman addressed the University fraternity and greeted them for this important day. He said that these are very testing times due to covid-19 pandemic but we all pray that this difficult phase is over soon. He said that our independence day reminds us how our heroes fought and got freedom for us . He said that we all have to see to it that we remain united and lessen the social and economic gaps and divides within the society so that various sections get equal opportunities to progress. It is our responsibility that we work jointly. He also talked about various teaching and research achievements made in the recent time in the university. Our constant and consistent efforts have enabled us to make a big jump in our NIRF rankings in the country, he said. Rankings of Education World, have shown that we have come at 18th ranking in the country and become number one in the Punjab. Our patents have enabled us to reach the technology transfer stages in the field for the benefits of the people. Prof Ghuman specifically mentioned the Bio Sensor Device for detecting urea in the milk. He said that though the university is passing through a phase of financial crisis but every possible step is being taken to come out of this .
Dr. GS Batra, DAA welcomed and greeted all in the university on the independence day. Formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Davinder Singh Sidhu, Registrar of the university.
