Punjab’s AAP MLA dies in accidental firing

Aam aadmi party (AAP) MLA from Ludhiana West Gurpreet Bassi Gogi has died late last night at Ludhiana.
As per initial reports, Gogi was at home and having his food at his residence when his wife Dr Sukhchain Kaur heard a gunshot.
The 58-year-old AAP MLA was rushed to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana at around 11:00 PM on Thursday by family members where he succumbed to his injury and declared dead by the doctors.
He had an injury in his head.Upon receiving news of the MLA being shot, Police commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal also reached hospital. He told the media that an autopsy report would confirm if MLA Bassi had committed suicide or died due to an accidental firing.
Gogi had joined AAP in 2022 and defeated two-time MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu during the assembly election from the Ludhiana (West) assembly constituency.
