R-Day parade: Punjab CM target Centre for ‘rejecting’ Punjab’s tableau; will display it in Punjab with ‘rejected by centre” tag

Today, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has shared the information of rejection of Punjab’s tableau for the 2024 Republic Day parade.
Mann said in a press conference that “the state, through its tableau, is to present the history related to sacrifices made by Punjabis , Nari Shakti, Culture in the country’s freedom struggle and the centre has chosen a day when we are paying tributes to Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, Sahibzada Fateh Singh and Mata Gujri ji on their martyrdom, remembering their unparallel sacrifices.”
“The Centre, however, stopped the state from presenting this at the parade,” the chief minister told reporters in Chandigarh. He also accused the BJP-led central government of discriminating against the AAP governments in Punjab and Delhi and selecting all BJP ruled its allies state. This is the second time in a row that the centre has rejected Punjab’s tableau at Republic Day parade.

CM added that the state government had pitched three tableau ideas to the central government on the theme: ‘Punjab Quarbaniya Atte Shahaditan Da Itihas’ (Freedom Struggle’ and Punjab’s contribution to the country’s frrrdom ), ‘Mai Bhago- First Lady Warrior of Sikhism’ and ‘Punjab Da Ammir Virsa’ (rich cultural heritage of Punjab).
He added that the govt has accepted the tableau’s of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Telangana, Orrisa, Meghalya, Assam, Manipur, Ladhak, Jharkhand,Goa, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh amongst others.
He added the state government has given their willingness to the centre to send their tableau in 2024,25,26 Republic Day parade. For 2024 we had submitted our designs.
He said now the state government will display these tableau’s at all the Republic day venues in Punjab and highlight it by tagging “This tableau is rejected by Centre”
Defence ministry’s guidelines required the states, UTs, and central ministries to send three proposals each.
