Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab organised Orientation Programme for B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) FYIC batch 2019-2024. The Orientation Week Programme (14 July – 20 July, 2017) commenced with the inaugural session.
Professor (Dr.) Paramjit S. Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL; Professor (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Vats, Registrar RGNUL; Dr. Upneet Lalli, Deputy Director, Institute of Correctional Administration, Chandigarh; Richa Singh, Co-Founder & CEO Your Dostand Professor (Dr.) Anand Pawar, Dean Student Welfare, RGNUL inaugurated the Programme. Professor Paramjit S. Jaswal welcomed the guests, students and parents. He congratulated the students on joining RGNUL. Professor Jaswal focussed on the importance of education.“The commitment of students to studies would determine their future,” he said.
He introduced the new entrants to various branches of the University. Professor Jaswal apprised the students with the vision and mission of RGNUL. While giving a glimpse of the campus, he focussed on the importance of Moot Court Competitions. Professor Jaswal talked about provisions for specially-abled students. He also acquainted the new students with the curricular, co-curricular, research aspects and institutional values. Professor Jaswal elaborated upon the criteria for assessment for Higher Educational Institution; autonomous status of the institute and RGNUL NIRF ranking. He said, “RGNUL imparts quality education.” During his interaction with parents and students Professor Jaswal discussed various emerging avenues in legal profession. “Eminent experts would address several issues realted to legal field in the Orientation Week,” he informed.
Dr. Upneet Lalli, Honorary Counsellor of RGNUL, remarked, “Education prepares students not only for earning livelihood but also for taking challenges in life.”Alluding to the digital era as interesting times, she exhorted students to discover new interests, to make best use of time, to avoid distractions and to discipline themselves. Dr. Lalli eulogised the conducive learning environment of RGNUL. She advised the students to make constant efforts with a positive attitude for personal and professional development.
Richa Singh, CEO Your Dost talked about role of counsellor and significance of introspection in managing difficult situations of life. Through mind exercises, Richa Singh and Dr. Nikita, Associate / Co-founder Your Dost, raised awareness about stress management and mindfulness. They informed the audience about the MoU signed by RGNUL and Your Dost.Professor Naresh Kumar Vats, Registrar RGNUL, extended a vote of thanks.
