Ramanujan Fellow Joined at Punjabi University Patiala

The department of Physics, Punjabi University Patiala is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Shubhchintak as a prestigious Ramanujan Fellow in the Department.
The Ramanujan Fellowship, named after the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, is awarded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Govt. of India to recognize and support exceptionally talented Indian researchers working abroad to take up scientific research positions in India in the early stages of their careers. The fellowship is scientist-specific and very selective. The fellowship provides Dr. Shubhchintak with the opportunity to pursue their innovative research agenda, collaborate with eminent scholars, and contribute to the academic and scientific community.
As a Ramanujan Fellow, Dr. Shubhchintak will be actively engaged in his research project “Study of nuclei away from the valley of stability using transfer reactions”. In this project he will work on the theoretical formulation and computation of nuclear transfer reactions involving weakly bound nuclei. This work will also have applications to nuclear astrophysics, where key nuclear reaction rates occurring in various astrophysical scenario will be studied. The duration of the fellowship will be for five years. The total cost of the project is Rs. 1.19 Crore and budget of Rs. 27.5 Lac for the year 2023-2024, was sanctioned recently. Their presence will foster interdisciplinary collaborations, ignite discussions, and enhance the overall academic environment at department of Physics.
Head of Department, Dr Anup Thakur, welcomed Dr. Shubhchintak to the department of Physics as a Ramanujan Fellow. His remarkable accomplishments and dedication to advancing nuclear Physics will undoubtedly enrich our department’s research endeavors and inspire our students.
