Region’s prestigious institute NITTTR CHANDIGARH conferred Deemed to be University status

In light of ViksitBharat@2047, under the able leadership of the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Ministry of Education being led by  Dharmendra Pradhan has issued a Gazette notification for conferment of Deemed-to-be-University status under Distinct Category to National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. NITTTR Chandigarh is expected to comply with the UGC’s regulations for deemed universities within six years from the date of issuance of the notification.

Dr Bhola Ram Gurjar, Director NITTTR Chandigarh said that, as a premier National Institute, NITTTR Chandigarh has played a very unique role in upgrading the technical education eco-system of the country over the last 57 years. The conferment of this status will provide the necessary flexibility and autonomy to launch programs in tune with National Missions, in consonance with NEP 2020, focussing on green and sustainable development, women-led development and innovative pedagogies.

NITTTR Chandigarhshall provide leadership in technical teacher educationand focus on commencing innovative academic programmes, doctoral and systemic research programmes, and shall conform to the norms and standards prescribed by UGC. The Institute shall take steps for valid accreditation of the courses by NBA and of the Institute by NAAC and shall participate in the annual Indian rankings issued by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and adopt Samarth e-Gov.
