Relief- foodgrain procurement agencies withdraw strike on conditions

Today evening the foodgrian procurement agencies of Punjab namely food and civil supplies department, PUNSUP, MARKFED and PSWC has decided to withdraw their ongoing strike after the assurance from the government authorities. The staffs of all the procurement agencies were on strike since last November 24, 2022

A spokesperson of the striking employees said “as you all know that the Vigilance Bureau Punjab had started harassing the employees of all the agencies all over the State regarding issue of Wooden crates and due to which there was an atmosphere of fear among all. That’s why time was sought from the principal secretary and they immediately responded by calling us and gave us full time to listen carefully. We handed over representation on 24th November. After which, while taking immediate action on our demand charter, principal secretary food took the issue at highest level with state Govt.

He further added that “yesterday, again meeting was chaired by principal secretary  Food, managing directors of all agencies were also present, during meeting assurance was given on behalf of Government that no employee need be afraid. Apart from this tender issue was also discussed and assurance was obtained. On our demand, the proceedings of the said meeting were also taken out today, which were recited today during the Dharna at Anaj Bhawan. Keeping in view the verbal and written assurance given on behalf of the Government by principal secretary food, the strike is being withdrawn with immediate effect as per the consent of majority. “
