Republic Day honour: MHA extends date for recommendation of President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service

Ministry of Home affairs has extended the date of recommendations for the awards of President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) for the occasion of Republic Day- 2024.
An official letter from the ministry has been forwarded to the all the chief secretaries, director general of police, home secretaries for intimation and requested them to submit nomination/recommendations for the awards of PSM/MSM for the occasion of Republic Day- 2024 till 30th November, 2023.
Earlier, the states, UTs were asked to submit it by November 17th 2023. However, various States/UTs/ CAPFs/CPOs/ Concerned Organizations requested the ministry for extension of last date for submission of nomination due to various reasons.

The existing “President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service”, “President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service”, “President’s Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service” and “President’s Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service” instituted by President’s Secretariat are merged with immediate effect to institute a new medal “President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
