Resentment prevails amongst the Corona warriors of the royal city of Patiala after the memo was issued to district health officials by Krishan Kumar ‘Prabhari,’ secretary, for sluggish performance on the Covid vaccination front by the district health officials. The health official are protesting for portraying their good work done in bad light.
A recent communiqué to the district health official for the lack of monitoring on the part of the civil surgeon has demoralised the health officials of the district.
“The district health department is headed by Dr Prince Sodhi, who won accolades in vaccinating and organizing Covid vaccination camps and crossing the one lakh mark for Covid vaccination when the residents were reluctant to have it when he was the SMO of Model Town community health centre, last year and now the bureaucrats are treating us as non-performers “ said a health worker associated with the Covid vaccination duty.
“We are doing our duty with pure dedication. We all are working tirelessly without any weekly off, no gazetted holiday, no Sundays, no casual leave and still we are pinpointed for our work. We are even thinking to say no to the covid vaccination duty in coming days” said a health worker associated with the covid vaccination camps.
Resentment in health workers of Patiala for highhandedness of senior bureaucrat .“Krishan Kumar is a senior bureaucrat. Instead of appreciating for our work he has disturbed us mentally with his act. The residents are still reluctant to have Covid vaccination. We are requesting the residents to have their covid vaccination and we can’t force them to have it. Some of the residents had their first covid vaccination when the Omicron cases came, recently. With the help of district administration, we are running our covid vaccination drive successfully. We are spreading awareness with the helps of known citizens of their areas. But getting this type of treatment from a senior IAS officer is not appreciable. After we all are working tirelessly as a team” said a doctor on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted Dr Prince Sodhi, civil surgeon Patiala, he said “we are daily vaccinating around 22,000 residents. We are educating the residents to have their covid vaccination on time, otherwise Covid will prove fatal. Now, we are going door-to-door to vaccinate the residents at their doorstep. I’am having a daily meeting (through video conferencing) with my seniors and convey the results, instructions to my SMO’s, MO’s and other staff members. In coming days, we will vaccinate the residents with both the doses and even with the protective doses. We will abide by the orders of our seniors ”
