Resident Doctors Association Faridkot demands stipend hike; meets VC, seeks support

Today, resident doctors and interns of GGS Medical College and Hospital Faridkot, led by RDA Faridkot, accompanied by a special representation from Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) had a preliminary meeting with Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Sood, Vice Chancellor Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot.

Resident doctors had a cordial conversation regarding the issue of stipend hike among other themes of student welfare, facilities and academics.

The resident doctors demanded hike in stipend and its linkage with the dearness allowance (DA) to avoid regular confrontations with the Government of Punjab regarding their remunerations. Discussions regarding restarting the medical college canteen under cooperative setup managed by the RDA Faridkot was also tabled and respected VC sir ensured full cooperation in the matter and asked the RDA to submit a formal proposal by next week.

Regarding the stipend hike, VC sir listened to RDA’s submissions patiently and extended support to present their case as and when required to the DRME (Govt of Punjab).

RDA Faridkot would be meeting respected VC again and would have elaborate discussions and submit formal proposals after thorough discussions with fellow resident doctors, by next week.

VC sir was also generous enough to have discussed with RDA the issues and challenges ailing the varsity administration and shared his progressive ideas to cultivate decentralised way of governance and exhibited confidence and sought support from RDA in his ventures.
