The Advisory Committee of the historic and ancient Shri Kali Devi Temple, Patiala, announced today that the foundation stone for the temple’s redevelopment will be laid on October 27 in a ceremony conducted with full religious tradition and reverence.

At a press conference this evening, committee members CA Ajay Alipuria, Sanjay Singla, Dr. Raj Kumar Gupta, and ADC (General)-cum-CEO Simarpreet Kaur stated that the initiative was based on announcements made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal for the temple’s revival with all necessary resources. The comprehensive plan and design have been finalized, and the official commencement will take place on October 27 with rituals and prayers.

Ajay Alipuria informed that after 30 years, fresh water will be refilled into the temple’s sacred pond, reviving its spiritual significance. Ninety percent of the pipeline work is complete, with subsequent waterproofing, stone lining, and improved walkways to follow. The temple’s sewerage upgrade is also underway, and a Aam Aadmi Clinic will be launched soon to serve devotees.

The Advisory Committee revealed that a comprehensive master plan has been prepared, in consultation with urban planners and religious experts, to ensure smooth future development, heritage conservation, pilgrim services, sanitation, parking, and traffic management. Shri Kali Devi Temple stands as one of North India’s most revered sites and a symbol of Punjab’s rich spiritual heritage. The redevelopment aims to present the temple in a grand and magnificent form, preserving the state’s cultural legacy and connecting youth to their glorious history.
