RGNUL organized Conclave-Justice Hasnain emphasized role of young advocates in ensuring access to justice for common people

The Internship and Placement Cell of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab organized the Conclave on theme, “The future of Corporate Laws: Opportunities, Trends & Careers” on April 5, 2025. In this seminar, Justice Shabihul Hasnain, Chairman of Advisory Board, Prevention of Illicit Traffic Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities, Govt. of Punjab, Chandigarh (Former Judge Allahabad High Court) inaugurated the event.

Further, he emphasized the constructive role of young advocates in ensuring access to justice for common people. He mentioned the journey of the legal profession from pleader to advocate. He highlighted the nobility of the legal profession and the requirement of adherence to the principles of equity and justice. He urged young professionals to stay true to the notion of giving back to society. He sensitized the gathering by sharing the essence of the preamble of the Constitution of India and gave a prismatic view of socialism.

He quoted Sanskrit shlokas on ‘paropkar’ and gave examples of selfless services of nature as inspiration to young professionals.

He also mentioned how technology can restrict the extensive learning process, which is otherwise emancipated through a broader scope of research and reasoning.

Furthermore, Justice Hasnain focused the emergence and rapid development of corporate profile of the legal profession. He expressed his views on how compartmentalization of application of legal provisions can mechanise the profession.

He was speaking on the career conclave organised by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala. He shared his perspectives on the corporate, litigation, and judicial sectors. He mentioned that the conclave would doubtlessly enhance comprehension and motivate our students to pursue novel opportunities.

“These types of events are essential for the purpose of establishing a connection between academia and industry, offering our students real-world perspectives that are invaluable in their professional growth. The event focused on the significance of practice in Corporate Law and brought together luminaries from bar, bench and partners from some of India’s most prominent law firms.

Rajiv Rambhatla, Partner, Luthra and Luthra law Offices, Kartik Jain, Partner, JSA, Surbhi Mehta, Co-founder and Partner, Adhrit Legal, Astha Trehan, Co-founder and Partner, Emarald Law Offices graced the occasion with their experiences and expertise.

Welcome note of the event was delivered by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jai. S. Singh. He said “विद्या ददावि विनयं & (Vidya Dadati Vinayam); Knowledge gives humility”. He also mentioned that the spirit of continuous learning and professional growth can kept alive by engaging with distinguished leaders from the corporate sector, litigation, and other intersecting legal professions.

He welcomed all dignitaries and delegates of the Conclave. He felicitated the esteemed guests and delivered the welcome address. He emphasized that students should understand practical issues and challenges in practicing Corporate Laws. He pressed on the need to encourage the students to delve into and build careers in this significant field of law.

The event witnessed the presence of four hundred students along with faculty members. The faculty coordinators Dr. Shiva Satish Sharda and Dr. Manpreet Kaur conceived the idea of the event with the primary aim to provide aspiring legal professionals with invaluable insights from esteemed figures in legal field, as to opportunities and careers in Corporate Law, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world practice.
