Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav inspected the flood prone areas, of Anandpur Sahib sub division and reviewed the pre-preparedness of flood prevention measures to protect the lives and livestock of the people. She directed the concerned authorities to make further necessary arrangements in this regard.She was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bambah, Anandpur Sahib SDM Manisha Rana and other officials.
Deputy Commissioner while visiting Chandpur, Gajjpur, Hariwal, Lodhipur and Burj ,said that the administration was keeping a close watch on the situation of possible floods. Heavy rains in the hills, inflow of water in Bhakra Dam and water level in Sutlej and Swan rivers are being monitored continuously.
She said that areas which have been affected by floods during the last one year and those areas which have been damaged due to floods have been inspected at the ground level and instructions have been given to the authorities to make necessary arrangements there. She said that blockage of rain drains, ditches, culverts, bridges often leads to floods. The administration has directed the concerned authorities to make adequate arrangements for this.
She said that special control rooms have been set up at the district headquarters and sub division level. At district level control room phone number is 01881-221157 and at sub division level control room phome number is 01887-232015. Apart from this Tehsil, BDPO office, Police station, Municipal Council office would also be on full alert during monsoon.
“People should get the right information from the helpline numbers and not believe the rumor at all,” she said.

She said that at present the water level was normal, there was no danger but the administration was keeping a watch and made all arrangements in advance so that any situation can be dealt with in a timely manner.
Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to be vigilant during the monsoon season and maintain uninterrupted supply of basic amenities.
She inspected the areas affected due to floods during the last one year and inspected the arrangements and repairs made there .
Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was keeping vigil to protect the lives and property of the people living near the Sutlej and was fully prepared to deal with the situation of possible floods. She said that Lodihpur bundh was also strengthened .She later visited Burj, Hariwal, Chandpur, Gajjpur, Lodhipur ..
She directed the officers to keep their mobile phones active day and night so that there would be no difficulty in coordination at any time. He directed the officials of the administration and irrigation department to make regular visits to the potentially flood prone areas .
