Rupnagar District Administration to hold a rally against drugs on May 8

District Administration Rupnagar will organise a district-level rally on May 8 at Nehru Stadium Rupnagar to mobilize the citizens of the district against drugs.
These words were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Varjeet Singh Walia today in a meeting held at the committee room of the District Administrative Complex to review the “Yudh Nashia Virudh” campaign.
While presiding over the meeting with the top officials of the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that to make the campaign a success, the district administration is taking the support of the people and creating a people’s movement against drugs. Under these same efforts, the district administration is organizing a grand rally under the “Yudh Nashia Virudh”.
He said that this grand rally will be led by the cabinet ministers of the Punjab government, while apart from the MLAs and district administration officials, a large number of members of Rotary Club, social service organizations, youth clubs, school students, college students, NCC Cadets, NSS Cadets, district players, Divyang children (special children) players, writers and people from every section of the society will participate.
Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia said that duties of various departments will be assigned and he also instructed the officers to make this event a success by spreading awareness against drugs.
He also invited the district residents to join this grand rally to be held on May 8 and contribute their valuable part in the war against drugs started by the Punjab government.
Deputy Commissioner said that as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, the district administration is making proper arrangements for the treatment and rehabilitation of the victims of drugs. Under this, 5 new OAT clinics are also being opened in Rupnagar district on Monday, April 28
He said that the Punjab government is taking steps for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, under which the people who have given up drugs are being registered with the Employment Bureau and are being provided employment and self-employment opportunities so that they do not face any difficulty in joining the mainstream of society.
He said that the society should also come forward to hold their hand so that they can live their lives in the society with self-respect.
Deputy Commissioner instructed the Civil Surgeon Dr. Tarsem Singh that he will hold a meeting with the senior medical officers of the district every day, prepare a written report of all the work and share it. Apart from this, he asked to focus more on the hotspot areas.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Pooja Sial Grewal, Additional Deputy Commissioner D Chandrajyoti Singh, RTO Gurvinder Singh Johal, SP Arvind Meena, Chief Minister Field Officer Jasjit Singh, SDM Rupnagar Sachin Pathak, SDM Nangal Anamjot Kaur, SDM Sri Chamkaur Sahib Amrik Singh, SDM Morinda Sukhpal Singh, SDM Sri Anandpur Sahib Jaspreet Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Tarsem Singh, Psychiatrist Dr. Kanwarbir Singh, besides all the BDPOs, SMOs and other high officials of the district were present.
