Rupnagar police crack case of tying of ‘Khalistan’ banner outside district administrative complex

Rupnagar police have cracked the case relating to the tying of Khalistan banner outside district administrative complex Rupnagar one month back.
While talking to media persons Rupnagar senior superintendent of police(SSP) Dr Sandeep Kumar Garg said that on the intervening night of April 12 and 13 , a banner with ‘Khalistan’ written was put up outside the District Administrative Complex Rupnagar by unknown miscreants..
A case under section 124-A153-A,153-B, 120-B of IPC and sections 13,16,18 of unlawful activities prevention Act(UAPA) was registered in this regard.
He said that given the seriousness of the case, various teams of CIA staff Rupnagar led by inspector Satnam Singh were formed under the supervision of SP(D) Harbir Singh Atwal,DSP(D) Jarnail Singh and different teams from Rupnagar were formed.
He said that investigations were being carried out from various aspects through technical surveillance in the case . Meanwhile, flags of of Khalistan were also put up outside Himachal Pradesh assembly in Dharamsala on May 7.
Dr. Sandeep Garg said that while conducting joint investigation of these two cases, the police had achieved a major breakthrough on April 11 when a joint party of Himachal Pradesh Police and Roupnagar Police arrested the accused Harbir Singh alias Raju from Sugar Mill Road Morinda. He confessed during interrogation that he and Paramjit Singh alias Pamma of village Roorkee Hiran falling under Chamkaur Sahib police station had put up the Khalistan flags outside HImachal Pradesh Assembly building in Dharamsala.
SSP said that during the preliminary interrogation , Harbir Singh alias Raju confessed that he and Paramjit Singh alias Pamma had put up Khalistan banner outside District Administrative Complex Rupnagar.
He said that a hunt had been launched to arrested the absconding accused Paramjit Singh alias Pamma and hoped that he would be arrested soon.
SSP said that the accused had put up Khalistan banner for money and Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu was behind these incidents adding that Pannu would also be named as an accused in the case.
He said that Harbir Singh and Paramjit Singh Pamma had criminal past and were accused in several criminal cases.
He said that further interrogation of Harbir Singh would be done after bringing him to Rupnagar from HImachal Pradesh on production warrants.
