Rupnagar Police claimed to have nabbed 6 members of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang, who are involved in smuggling of weapons and drugs at large scale in the state,with 12 lethal weapons and 50 live cartridges.

Giving information in a press conference Rupnagar senior superintendent of police(SSP) Vivek Sheel Soni said that as per directions of Chief Minister of Punjab  Bhagwant Singh Mann, a special campaign against the anti-social elements dealing with drugs and illegal arms was initiated in the district. In wake of such criminal activities, an operation conducted under the supervision of Rupnagar superintendent of police (Investigation) Manvinderbir Singh, DSP(Investigation) Talwinder Singh, CIA staff incharge  Inspector Satnam Singh along with his team.  They arrested six accomplices of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria with 12 lethal weapons and 50 live cartridges.

SSP  said that arrested accused were planning to commit crime with these lethal weapons which could be carried out in the state. He said all arrested accused are also involved in smuggling of weapons/drugs on a large scale.

He said that on  few days back  a team of CIA staff Rupnagar arrested 4 accused Rishav, Pardeep Singh Kaka,Jaspal Singh and Pargat Singh and recovered 4 Pistols and 20 live cartridges from them, On this, case  under  25-54-59 Arms Act was registered at  Morinda city police station .

Rupnagar Police nab 6 members of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang with 12 lethal weapons. In order to ascertain the backward linkages of illegal weapons, a team of CIA Rupnagar took custody of accused Arshdeep Singh alias Fauji from Amritsar Jail on production warrant.

After that another accused, who remained undercover by disguising his name as 777, later identified as Varinderpal Singh alias  Vicky was also taken in custody on production warrant from Amaritsar, he said adding that during thorough interrogation conducted by CIA staff Rupnagar, 8 more pistols and 30 live cartridges had been recovered.
