Rupnagar to be developed as water sports hub – Meet Hayer

Punjab sports minister Meet Hayer visited the Rowing Academy of district sports department at Rupnagar on Friday and reviewed the arrangements made for the players. Sports Minister met the players and coaches at the Rowing Academy and listened about problems facing the sport. He assured that Rupnagar district would be developed as a water sports hub to increase the number of Punjabis in water sports.
MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha said that Rupnagar district has a big potential for water sports for which it is imperative to provide facilities to the players to prepare them at international level.
He said that the players of this academy were national level medal winners and in future steps would be taken to make necessary arrangements for both the centers.
On this occasion director Sports Punjab Parminder Pal Singh Sandhu. also met the players and got to know their problems at grass root level.
Rupesh Kumar Begra, District Sports Officer,Jagjivan Singh, Coach,Sukhdev Singh,Football Coach, GS Cheema and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
