‘Safar-e-Fakhr’ celebrations at Government Mohindra College Patiala

A lecture-cum-demonstration on music was organized by the Department of Music (Vocal) in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as part of the ‘Safar-e-Fakhr’ celebrations at Government Mohindra College Patiala. The event was organised under the direction of college Principal Prof. Maninder Sidhu.
On this occasion, Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Prof. Harvinder Singh participated as the keynote speaker, providing valuable insights into the elements of improvisation in Raga music.
He explained the technique to include and use Kan, Murki, Behlawa etc embellishments in Raag improvisation and also he congratulated for 150th foundation day celebrations in the form of Safar-e-Fakhr.
Principal Prof. Maninder Sidhu extended a warm welcome to the key speaker and in her address she emphasized the importance of music and explained raga as the soul of Indian music.
The event saw participation from teachers and students of the Music Department of Government College for Girls and Khalsa College Patiala. Dr. Rai Bahadur Singh managed the stage proceedings, while Prof. Gagandeep Cheema delivered the vote of thanks.
College Council members along with faculty and students participated in the event.
