“Save power sector Save India”- PSPCL, PSTCL engineers observed Anti -Privatisation Day

Power sector employees and engineers across the country observed “Anti -Privatisation Day” on 9th August 2023 with the slogan “Save power sector Save India” and demanded to withdraw all privatisation attempts including electricity amendment bill 2022, On the call of All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) and the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers
(NCCOEEE) engineers from PSPCL and PSTCL held a meeting in front of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Head Office, Patiala.
Er Padamjit Singh Patron of the Association explained about the dangers of the proposed Amendments in the Electricity Amendment Bill – 2022, he elaborated how privatisation in Generation has increased the cost of electricity manifolds. He explained that the proposed privatisation model has failed miserably in the United Kingdom and the Union Government is not ready to learn any lessons from this faulty model and is now forcibly trying to adopt this model to favour a few vested interests.
Er. Ajay Pal Singh Atwal General Secretary said that the Electricity Amendment Bill – 2022 only aim is to privatise the power sector completely, which would affect commoners especially farmers and the downtrodden. He said that massive protest meetings were held today throughout the country. Er. V.K. Gupta spokesperson AIPEF said that the quest for profit and greater commercial orientation seems to be the only aim of the central government.
